For Outdoor Events:
For Outdoor Events:
- Weather monitoring. We will register the event with the National Weather Service and they provide us with a daily weather briefing as well as notice when severe weather is imminent at the event location. We pass this information on to event organizers so they can make real time decisions about closings or cancellations to protect event goers and staff in the event of severe weather.
- Event planning for emergency situations. This includes assisting organizers with planning what to do if an emergency arises during the event. We can assist organizers in making sure they have adequate training and resources for the situation as well as planned routes for emergency service that may be needed. We can assist in getting organizers in contact with local emergency services during the planning of the event.
- The Cooper County EMA has electronic message boards, generators, light towers, radios, and other equipment that they will allow event organizers to use during events. This equipment is scheduled on a first come basis and may be withdrawn at any time if needed for public safety purposes. Equipment cannot be used for political purposes or events.
