REAL ID INFORMATION
Proof of name change for either party due to a MARRIAGE will require a raised seal, "certified copy" of your original marriage license. (This is NOT the keepsake copy from your church or officiant)  Certified copies may be obtained from the County where you purchased your license.  (This may differ from the actual location of your marriage ceremony.)  Cooper County certified copies may be purchased for $9.00, payable by check, money order or cash. 
You may also use the service below to enable the use of a credit card for the purchase.  Requests may be submitted by email, phone, or in person and will be sent upon receipt of payment.

MARRIAGE APPLICATION & LICENSE INFORMATION

$60.00 for License and one certified copy - CASH only
License Fee:  $51.00 ~ Certified Copy: $9.00 (proof of marriage)

BOTH parties must be present at time of application & present a valid
 government issued photo ID & social security number

License is valid for 30 days
after date of purchase.  Licenses issued Monday through Friday

9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

MO STATUTE 451.100 
MARRIAGE MAY BE SOLEMINIZED BY WHOM.

Marriages may be solemnized  by any clergyman, either active or retired, who is in good standing with any church or synagogue in this state.  Marriages may also be solemnized, without compensation, by any judge, including a municipal judge.  Marriages may also be solemnized by a religious society, religious institution, or religious organization of this state, according to the regulations and customs of the society, institution or organization, when either party to the marriage is a member of such society, institution or organization.

​We are conducting normal business and issuing marriage licenses with ONE of the applicants being be a Cooper County resident.  Marriage license applicants should call ahead  to set an appointment to apply for the license.  Most inquiries and document requests may still be taken care of via
​email or phone call.

Recordings may be presented via "E-record" as this expediates the turn around time.  (E-record is done through an online vendor listed below) Paper documents received by mail or drop off will be recorded as soon as possible.
